| Laborer | | This is a full-time, 12 month position in the Maintenance Department. Hours are 7am - 3:30pm. Position activities may include but are not limited to: - Assists in preparation, laying out, marking and maintenance of athletic fields or parks;
- Removes snow from sidewalks, parking lots and recreational areas by shoveling or using a tractor or pick-up truck and plow;
- Operates power driven tools and equipment such as saws, compressors, drills, mixers, pumps, and various lawn mowing equipment and trimmers;
- Uses hand tools such as shovels, scythes, forks, rakes in ground maintenance and beautification work;
- Loads and unloads vehicles and trucks;
- Acts as flagperson on highway jobs, directs trucks at loading and unloading sites;
- Performs general clean-up work such as collecting garbage, rubbish and recyclables, removing debris, raking leaves, cutting grass and weeds;
- Trims shrubs, cuts brush, spades flower beds, plants trees and assists in other grounds maintenance activities;
- Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and markings;
- Washes walls and windows and performs a variety of building and cleaning work;
- May assist with painting and unskilled carpentry tasks;
- May assist in performing minor mechanical maintenance or equipment repairs and assist in servicing equipment by adding fuel, coolants and lubricants.
- May assist in the maintenance or construction of roads, streets, utility and drainage systems, sewers and catch basins, by digging and backfilling trenches, spreading asphalt, sand and gravel;
- May assist in construction, patching and grading of roads and installation of new sidewalks;

| Temporary Maintenance Mechanic | | This is a temp position in our Maintenance Dept. lasting through 6.30.26 . Hours are 7am - 3:30pm. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of electrical fixtures, equipment and systems.
- Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of plumbing equipment systems.
- Performs a wide variety of steam fitting, forging, welding, sheet metal fabricating or machine shop activities.
- Makes, assembles, installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds doors, stairs, walls, floors, desks, chairs, cabinets, tables and other wood products, equipment and structures.
- Performs and assists staff in corrective (repair) and preventive maintenance at all District facilities on items, such as mechanical systems and equipment; heating and cooling systems and equipment; temperature control systems; fire alarms and automatic sprinkler systems; electrical systems and equipment; plumbing and sewer systems and equipment; program clocks and signal systems, including building communication systems; lawnmowers, snow blowers and other grounds care equipment; general repair of building furnishings.
- Performs and assists staff with site maintenance and repair work at all District facilities, such as snow removal, including operating truck-mounted snowplows and sanding equipment; and lawn irrigation system maintenance.
- Performs and assists staff in providing miscellaneous maintenance services at all District facilities, such as replacing filters and vents, replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes where scaffold is needed; removing graffiti from surfaces; delivering and/or moving supplies, materials, furniture and equipment.
- Responds to facility emergencies when needed.
- Works on remodeling projects when needed.
- Maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Prepares, paints and refinishes wood, metal and other surfaces.
- Performs duties of custodian/cleaner in their absence.
- Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.
